Wedding Time Wonderland

With my son getting married next May and so many of my friend’s kids getting married within the last couple of years – or in the next year to come – it has definitely given me a bit of the wedding bug.  Not in the “I want to renew my wedding vows” type of way – just in the “it’s such fun decorating” type of way. Between the showers, engagement parties, rehearsal dinners, wedding receptions and more….it’s just such a happy, exciting time.  I mean – aren’t all weddings just so sweet and lovely?  I don’t think I’ve ever been to an ugly one, have you?  No matter how big or how small it is such a happy, lovely time.  I’ve done or helped with more showers, parties and receptions than I can count. And it’s all so fun!

The renewed excitement of my son’s engagement had me peeking at some wedding blogs out of curiosity.  Look at some these fancy, schmancy receptions. Are they fabulous or what?!

I love these tall candleholders.

And, these fabulous flower arrangements…!

The colorful sash around these white chair covers adds so much punch and color.  Look at how the personality changes at these receptions with the different color sashes below.

How dramatic!!

And look at these fun party favors:

I love the idea of these sweet fans to cool guests off.  Especially at an outdoor wedding.  And, they make great little favors.

Of course you can’t forget about the importance of beautiful flowers…

Absolutely stunning!

And what’s a wedding without that dramatic, tasty wedding cake!

And last, but most definitely not least, never underestimate the power of an amazing table setting.

Love this!!

So many fun, wonderful ideas!  Aside from the beautiful bride and her wedding party – ambiance is everything!  And the beauty is in the details.  Lots and lots of details!  From the location to the colors, to the table settings, to the centerpieces… sets the stage for the evening, the “attitude” and the atmosphere!  As well as warmly welcoming your guests to share in such a happy, exciting time!

Happy Decorating!

Party Decor Idea’s For Your New Years Eve Party

Need some fun party idea’s for your New Years Eve party?  Check out some of these fun party settings.

Do you want to  spruce up your table with color?  What about pinks, reds, purples and oranges?  Take a close look at this picture.  Nothing on this table is expensive, but put it all together like this and it looks like a million bucks.

Would you prefer classic black, white and gold?  A more formal look, but you can’t go wrong with these colors.

Leftover Christmas decorations go a long way in sprucing up your New Years Eve table.

Bring some fun textures to your table.

Name tags and/or party favors in soft turquoise and silver are very inviting and fun.

Don’t forget the horn blowers and the noise makers.  They make a fun centerpiece, too.

Silver and white makes an elegant table.  Horn blowers with silver party tinsel and this collection of clocks – ticking away the New Years countdown – make for a fun, whimsical, but beautiful centerpiece.

This table is fun, casual and hip with the dark brown table and tray, and the martini glasses and popcorn ready to go.

Hope these fun idea’s help you to come up with the color scheme and theme of for your own New Years Eve party.

Happy New Year and Happy Decorating!!!!

Halloween: A Frightfully Good Time

When my friend, Joan, decided to have a Halloween party the task at hand for all of us was what food to bring and more importantly – what to wear!!!! Big decision!  Costumes were required and with this fun group they had to be good. There are eight of us that hang out together (four couples)  and when the four of us women were on a girl’s trip together we spent half our time trying to come up with a fun “theme” for costumes that the eight of us could wear.  We decided on Snow White and the seven dwarfs – Joan being Snow White.  Then suddenly the girls decided we needed a Snow White and a Snow“Off” White.  (I was nominated by the others to come as Snow “Off” White – Snow White’s sleazy rival! Ha!  How fun is that!)

Before the party started we, of course, had to prepare all the food.  You can’t have a party without yummy food so we all pitched in and brought different goodies.   This was one of my contributions – my Halloween cake.

PA300625 I keep all these little Halloween critters and use them every year in different ways to make a fun dessert.  The little ghosts are marshmallows (no I don’t save these) and I surrounded the cake with candy corn and sprinkled some all over the cake for color.

PA300619These are my little gnarly cake balls.  At my second attempt…….I’ve discovered it is not where my talents lie.  These turned out so embarrassingly imperfect that I decided to call them my ghost balls that came back from the deadWith the Halloween theme I could pretend their lumps and imperfections were part of my master plan for them to appear ghoulish.  In reality they were just lumpy.  How do people get them so smooth and round?  Impossible!

PA300618I placed them on a Halloween platter with fall leaves and M&M’s added for a festive touch and some color; and inserted some plastic skeletons for fun.   All this helped to camouflage the cake ghost balls a bit!

PA300645This is Joan’s fun, festive, Halloween table.  Pumpkin cookies, witches hat cookies, broomstick cookies.  Bread sticks dipped in Halloween colors.  Popcorn with “eyeballs” in them.  Very fun – and very tasty!

(These are cupcakes I made for a different occasion using the same little critters.  They can be washed and re-used over and over again.  Makes any dessert fun.)

PA300641 This is me in my Snow “Off” White costume with my normally handsome hubby dressed up as my dwarf, Nerdy.  Hilarious!  He won third prize for best costume.   Thanks for being such a good sport, hubby!

PA300629 The arch rivals:  Snow “Off” White with Snow White.

Two of the dwarfs – Nerdy and Granny standing with the “Pimp”.

Three more dwarfs – Cookie, Roadie and Speedy with a grown up girl scout.

Granny’s little sister (we dubbed her) and her punker friend.

PA300633 A couple of Zorro’s.

Nerdy with another dwarf, Nashful, the dwarf country rocker.  Rhymes with Bashful….get it?

PA300636This is punker and pimp having a great time.

PA300637 The punker couple.  Winner of second place in the costume contest.  Too cute!

PA300638Pimp and his woman….or mother….we were never quite sure.

PA300639  The first place winners.  This couple enlarged pictures of Russ and Joan’s faces (the couple having the party) and made them into masks.  Then they dressed up in clothes that reflect Joan and Russ.  Very creative and too funny!

Everyone was so creative!  Great food, great costumes, great fun!  Lots of laughs.

Wedding Time Bliss: Girly, Blingy – Oh So Savvy – Shower Idea’s!

Weddings and wedding showers are always a fun excuse for family and friends to get together, but they are especially fun for friends who haven’t seen each other in years.   And when it’s your oldest and dearest friend’s kids (that you’ve known since they were born) that grow up and get engaged…….oooohhhh the emotions it brings out.

72573_1393636770729_1526460186_30866024_5389062_n These are my oldest and dearest friends from high school.  We were best buddies back then, together all the time.  We were all in each other’s weddings, we all started our families at the same time and had years and years of fun when our kids were growing up.  We celebrated birthdays together, Christmases together, annual summer trips to Six Flags and Hurricane Harbor, multiple play dates at Chuck-e-Cheese, each other’s houses and other fun places.  Wonderful, fun memories.  Jan, on the left, is the one who’s daughter, Amelia, is getting married and, Judy, on the right, is her sister. (Some of you may recognize Judy from the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders.  She’s the choreographer many of you have seen on the DCC TV show.)

IMG_0313 Here we all are when I first got there: Judy, Jan, Amelia and Judy’s daughter, Cassie, all hugging and crying.  I’m snuggled in the middle – so happy to see everyone.  With Jan living out of town I literally had not seen her or Amelia in years.  Judy and I manage to catch up about once, or maybe if we’re lucky, twice a year (which isn’t enough), but it had been a couple of years since I’d seen Cassie, too.  So we had a sweet little hug and tear fest at our reunion.  So special!

PA170418Here is my other sweet, good friend, their beautiful mama, Juanita, and Jan’s beautiful daughter, Amelia.

Now that you have the introductions – on to decorating!

They had all sorts of fun tables with their own little themes.  All glammed up and blinged out.  So girly and oh so savvy!

For starters they had this little table with the hostess gifts.  Love the black and white boxes, the feathers – and these are a pair of the bridesmaid’s shoes!  How fun is that?!

PA170411 Has a swanky, sexy vibe to it you don’t you think?

This table is the “Tuxedo Table”.  This is where they served the chocolate martini’s.  So yummy!  And isn’t this table just so glamorous and chic?

016 Love this picture!  What’s sweeter than young love?

007 This is the “Something Blue” table.  Blingy, girly, sweet. Just beautiful!

021 Pretty wine cocktail for this “Something Blue” table.

 PA170427 Precious!

PA170426Notice the garter?

009This is the “Blushing Bride” table.

022Another adorable photo center stage on this wonderful table display.  The hot pink with the black and white, the crystal glasses and accents.  Mmmm…mmmm….mmmm….just absolutely gorgeous!  And fun, fun, fun!

PA170423 Isn’t this the cutest picture of the happy couple?

PA170422 And, aside from the blushing bride….it’s all about the shoe!

On this lovely table was the champagne cocktail

Three pretty little drinks in three different colors –  something for everyone.  Great idea!

Believe it or not Amelia’s grandmother, Juanita, made this amazing cake!  Can you believe that?  You’d think she does it professionally.  (She doesn’t in case you’re wondering.)  Incredible.  Beautiful. I’m amazed!

PA170408Not only did she make the larger one, she made this adorable little chocolate cake, too.  Now that’s a special grandmother!

Judy got a wire figurine and covered it in this tulle and ribbon to make it look like a miniature wedding dress. It dressed up the table in such a cute, unique way.  Very creative! Love it!  Good job, Judykins.

014 Sweet serving table.

Even the mantel was decorated to the hilt.

Another shoe….Amelia’s bridal shoe for the wedding. Love this idea!

008A shot of Judy’s living room filled with all the bridal fun.

Had to slip this in: Jan’s gift to Amelia for her bedroom.  She painted this chair black and recovered it in this cool, fun fabric.  I think it turned out great!

The beautiful wedding party.

And what adds even more excitement:

Judy’s daughter, Cassie, just got engaged!  (Yes, she followed in her mom’s footsteps to the DCC.)  Which means more showers, more weddings, (more fun decorating to share with you all), and more reunions!   So exciting!

The two happy cousins – blushing  Brides to Be.

There’s just nothing more exciting than young love.  Is there?

Except maybe decorating!

(Kidding, of course!)

For all you young brides and mothers of the brides – have fun and good luck with all your exciting plans and, yes, I have to say it……..Happy Decorating!
